The Humans vs. The Computers

It's always been an interesting idea that we need weekly polls to tell us where our favorite team is ranked.  It of course doesn't matter but it sure does give us something to talk / argue / gripe about.  This week Kentucky is ranked 17th in the AP and 16th in the coaches poll.  Where things look much better is in the current RPIPomeroy, and Sagarin computer rankings.  Here the computers believe Kentucky is ranked 2, 5, and 5 respectively.  So this begs the question: Are we a Sweet 16 team or a Final Four team?  In all due honesty it really comes done to how our bracket brakes down once we get seeded, but until then it is fun to see that SEC teams have played the 1st (Kentucky), 2nd (Florida), and 6th (Tennessee) toughest schedules so far.  With two games each against both of those teams and only 1 against West bottom feeders Auburn (324 RPI), Alabama (276) and Miss St (223) the computers should be on our side this year.  At least it's much better than Billy Gillespie scheduling us cupcakes and tournaments in ballrooms.

  1. It is a lot more fun to watch games against good teams vs cupcakes, even if we loose a couple, plus it will benefit us come tournament time.
