Before we spend the next 24 hours absolutely tearing into the Cards I would like to spend a few minutes pondering on a Louisville Card I admire. I was not old enough to really understand what was going on in college basketball until the late 80s. By then Louisville had already won 2 national championships and Denny Crum was on the downside of his coaching career. From 1987 to 2001 Crum would only reach the Elite Eight once and instead of really hating the Cards I found myself rooting for them in any game other than against Kentucky. I respected Denny Crum as a great coach and sort of found it amusing that they played in the Metro and later Conference USA while we played in the mighty SEC. It wasn't until Rick Pitino replaced him after the 2001 season that I grew to truly hate the Cardinals. I was at the game at Rupp in Dec. 2001 where Rick came back. I booed my head off for someone I felt had betrayed the Cats and for the first time I missed Denny Crum.
I agree, I never hated Louisville until Pitino went there
