Bracketology Friday

Last Four in:  Georgia, Butler, Michigan St., Baylor
Last Four out:  Gonzaga, Virginia Commonwealth, Colorado, Washington St.
Next Four out:  Missouri St., Southern Miss., Duquesne, Oklahoma St.

Bracketology after Thursdays games assuming the season ended today.  Teams in blue are conference automatic qualifiers based on league record with RPI used as the tie breaker.  Check us out on the Bracket Project Blog and the 2011 Bracket Matrix.  I have Kentucky again as one of the always dangerous 5 seeds taking on the winner of the Butler/Michigan St. play in game.  The first game could be very tough with each team able to step up and beat Kentucky but our opponent will have already played 2 days earlier so advantage Kentucky.  Next you're looking at Syracuse and Ohio St. as games 2 and 3.  The other half of the bracket is somewhat weak with BYU and Florida as possible matchups in the regional final...almost a gift for surviving Michigan St., Syracuse, and Ohio St.  This isn't as bad as last week but is still the bracket from hell and really emphasizes that Kentucky must finish the SEC slate strong.  Finish the last 5 games 4-1 to go 10-6 overall, win the SEC tournament, and you're looking at a 3 seed with a possible BYU/San Diego St. as your 2 seed.

  1. I like how you have vandy as a 6, heheheheh. Uh dont they have a better record than UK and UNC? better RPI, and head to head wins? Nice objective bracketology there, buddy.

  2. I consider more than just the RPI numbers (Kentucky is 15, Vandy is 14) when making my bracket. Head to head wins are also hard to consider at this point as Vandy still has to travel to Lexington. Going by that logic I should of had Tennessee higher than Vandy the last few weeks b/c they had comparable RPI numbers and TENN has beat Vandy. I like the debate though and I do have Vandy as my highest 6 seed on my S curve

  3. How is it that Alabama is not even in your first eight out? I know their RPI is bad, given a weak schedule and early disasters but wins against UK at home, Tenn. on the road, and generally taking care of business the last 2 months should have them at least smelling the dance.
