Erupting Rupp Arena

Thankfully UK was back at home tonight and they continued what is the nation's second longest home win streak. Finishing with a 85-79 win over the Miss. St. Bulldog's. The first half was pretty sloppy with Miss. St. going into halftime with a lead. The first half ended with Brandon Knight drawing a shooting foul 45 ft. from the basket and Rick Stansbury proceeding to get a technical. I don't want to harp on the officiating but Stansbury was given a pretty loose leash by the officials and should have received his second technical, ejecting him from the game. Stansbury even at one point grabbed referee Ted Valentine to get his attention. However after a sloppy beginning to the 2nd half UK really picked their game up and played a solid offensive and defensive half which led to a 6 point victory for the Cats. Brandon Knight led all scorers with 24 points and 7 assists. Terrence Jones had his 9th double-double with 17 points and 10 rebounds. Doron Lamb finished with 20 points and Darius Miller had 13. Ravern Johnson came off of the Miss. St. bench to contribute 21 points to the Bulldogs losing effort. Overall UK played a pretty good game, they had sloppy moment's at times and let Miss. St. have a late run to get back into the game at the end but I'm happy with their effort. Harrellson played well down low but with the efforts of Renardo Sidney on defense I think anyone could have done well. UK is back at home on Saturday taking on the USC Gamecocks and hopefully extending the win streak. Until next time, Go Cats!

  1. I would say Sidney's lack of effort. I guess if his family isn't being put up in multimillion dollar mansions his heart just isn't in it.
