UK-Vandy First Half Recap

Kentucky came right out of the gate playing very intense defense and establishing the low post with Harrelson and Jones. This has been by far the best defensive performance I have witnessed from the Cats this year, but in normal Vandy fashion, they do not miss from 3 land. Kentucky has dominated the paint so far with offensive rebounding, and solid blockout out on the defensive end.

The whistle hasn't favored either team at this point which i had not experienced from Memorial in a long time. Liggins was given a technical foul for asking the ref for and "and 1" , literally 4 minutes after they warned Stallings for the same exact request. Harrellson once again left the game with 2 fouls at the 3:40 mark, which is a trend that he HAS to control going foward. Without Jorts, our offensive rebounding and interior defense crumbles.

The star so far for Vandy is their hot shooting guard John Jenkins, who is just locked in from 3 point land. Vandy's backup center Steve Tchiengang, is shooing 80 percent from the free throw line, and 100 % from beyond the arc.

Vandy's Bench has been the key for them so far as they are leading Kentucky's bench 20-4. Lets hope for an exciting second half as the Cats look to steal one on the road. Hopefully this game doesn't come down to the final seconds for Stalling's sake, I mean c'mon, that guy can't afford to lose any more hair(his twin brother Kevin, pictured above).
