What Happened to the Big East

First I have to give thanks to Brad Sturgeon for the above illustration.  I love it and had to find a way to get it on the site sometime this season.

Entering the tournament the Big Least East was the powerhouse basketball conference with 11 teams making it to the big dance.  Maybe it's just that they got to play each other in conference to help boost their computer numbers and their reputations because of the 11 we're now down to 2 going into the second weekend.

Oddly enough the only reason we have 2 teams left is because both of those teams (Connecticut and Marquette) had games against other Big East teams.  Connecticut beat Cincinnati and Marquette beat Syracuse.

I still feel Connecticut can make some noise and think they will advance to the Final Four, but it's been a pretty big letdown for the conference.  Even Charles Barkley is putting Rick Pitino in his place.
