Kentucky Baseball Coach Will Return Next Year

Barnhart said on Thursday he has no plans to dismiss baseball coach Gary Henderson after just three seasons at the helm.  Speaking after a budget meeting involving the UK Athletics Association Board of Directors, Barnhart told reporters he believes Henderson deserves more time to get the UK program back to the postseason, which it has missed each of his three seasons.

This move sort of surprised me.  I made it out to 8 games this year and realized this team was talented but young.  This was most evident in home and road records with the Bat Cats going 21-10 at Cliff Hagan Stadium but a dreary 4-20 away from home.  Baseball America doesn't have next years recruiting class in the early Top 25 but does say Kentucky has a sleeper class in the SEC.  The key to Kentucky's class is lefty Corey Littrell, whom the Wildcats believe can blossom into a first-rounder in three years. He has advanced command of a sinking 88-92 fastball, excellent changeup and solid curveball, and he's a strong competitor.
