UK Baseball Shuts Out #1 Vandy To Open Series

Normally, we don't mention other teams outside of football or basketball much but whenever a team that is struggling beats a #1 team, it's worth mentioning.

Many of you may recall hearing about UK's success in baseball over the last several years, do in large part to the hiring of John Cohen as coach in 2003. Under Cohen UK had several good winning seasons and got as high as #4 in the country a few times before he left the program after the 09' season.

Baseball has slipped back some again and hasn't been doing very well but last night they were able to shut-out Vandy which is currently ranked as the #1 collegiate team in the country (38-6, 17-5 SEC). While UK's record is still poor (21-25, 5-17 SEC) for one night at least they outplayed the best team in the country and supported their school well.

Congrats to the baseball team on this HUGE win and good luck on the remaining games!
