NBA Draft Tonight @ 7:30 EST

As we all know earlier this year Brandon Knight and DeAndre Liggins elected to keep their names in the NBA draft and thus tonight will join our lone senior from this past season, Josh Harrellson, and the greatest player to wear a UK jersey that never got to play, Enes Kanter, to see what the future holds for their basketball careers.

It is almost a certainty that Knight and Kanter both go in the top 5 but where each ends up in the top 5 is still a little mystery with some speculators certain they know where each lands but many of them having different ideas. All that can be for certain is that most likely both go in the top 5.

Liggins has gone from late first round to second to undrafted and back again and at times there has been mention of Jorts maybe even making it in the second round so the future of these two is a lot less certain but we all wish them luck in getting drafted.

As a side note for one of last years UK draft players and a fan favorite, rumors were going around that the Houston Rockets were considering trading Patrick Patterson which would have changed the team draft order a little. While it doesn't look like this has or will happen this year it is not surprising since 1.) the Rockets really do not need Patterson that badly at this point in time (from their standout based on having several good players at that position although we all know they would be foolish to get rid of Patterson) and 2.) the Rockets historically seem like a destination many recent UK players have passed through on their way to something else. Take a look at a few former players that were with the Rockets, even if for just an instant (meaning they may not have even played for them or were on the roster for a season but were a part of the team for a brief bit):

Patrick Patterson (2010-present)
Chuck Hayes (2006-present)
Kelena Azubuike (Aug - October 2006)
Keith Bogans (Feb - July 2006)
Gerald Fitch (Fed - March 2006)
Scott Padgett (2003-05; 2006-07)

While there may be another NBA team that has had this many or more UK players pass through recently, I just happened to become aware of the number going through Houston while doing some sports research and this is still interesting nonetheless. If someone knows of a team who has passed a bunch of UK players through recently, feel free to post it in the comments section.

ESPN starts coverage of the draft at 7 with the live draft at 7:30. If you happen to miss it or cant watch it, we'll get the results on here after they are revealed.
