Rays, Red Sox, Braves, Cardinals...I Love Baseball!
What a crazy last day in the baseball regular season. Atlanta and St. Louis were tied for the NL Wild card while Tampa and Boston were tied for the AL Wild Card.
Atlanta is up 3-2 in the top of the 9th needing to win to stay tied with St. Louis. Philadelphia scraps a run across and then wins it 4-3 in 13 innings. Atlanta eliminated.
In the AL it looked like the Red Sox might slide into the playoffs. New York jumped on top of Tampa 7-0 and led by that score going into the bottom of the 8th. Tampa scores 6 in the 8th and then pinch hitter Dan Johnson hits a home run with 2 outs and 2 strikes in the bottom of the 9th. The Red Sox were still winning their game 3-2 going into the bottom of the 9th. With 2 outs Baltimore mounts a rally to tie and then win the game on a ball that just barely eludes Carl Crawford. Literally a minute later Evan Longoria hits a walk off home run to win the Wild Card for the Tampa Rays. CRAZY!
