Cats beat Rebels, Advance

In a game that Ole MIss never had the lead, it sure seemed closer than that. Once again the young Cats showed their fight to pull out another close game that the nine point margin of victory definitely exaggerates. It was not the Freshman that won the game today, it was Liggins, Miller, and Jorts. The vets showed what it means to play in the post season with their defense, hustle, and will to win.

Doron Lamb led all scorers with his hot shooting with 19pts; he was the only Wildcat that shot even close to the regular season averages. Knight was clutch down the stretch with his mid range jumpers that answered Ole Miss' threes, and his free throws. Jones was sub par today but rebounded well. Overall the three Freshmen played well, but if UK wants to advance in this tourney and the NCAA tourney these guys need to be more consistent on the offensive end (sorry Doron I know you shot lights out today).

For some reason I was never nervous for this game, however. I felt like UK had it all along, and no matter how big of a lead they gave up to the Rebels the Cats were able to always answer.

Darius Miller had an impressive game on both ends, with his aggressive moves to the basket and his defensive rebounding. But the biggest story was the "altercation" after the game between Deandre Liggins and Ole Miss' Reginald Buckner. We all saw during the handshake after the game Liggins had some words for an Ole Miss player. You could not tell who but when the players got to the tunnel both teams had to hold their respective players back. Liggins is awesome, he always gets under the other teams skin. His taunting and fight have started to spread to the rest of UK and we are starting to win the close games.

Cal said it best today, we won when we did not particularly play well, against a team fighting for the NCAA tourney. If we can put it together and shoot like we have all year, watch out.

Deandre Liggins had this to say about the game: "He was mad because I kept saying just go home, you're mad because we are winning and you are going home." Gotta love that, even though we are guaranteed a spot in the NCAA, we still have the want to step on other teams' throats and end their season.

Go Cats, bring on Bama
