I always felt that the tournament looks at your whole body of work but pays particular attention to how you finish your season. I'll admit Florida had a great year, and I'm not going to argue that we should be seeded higher than them. Their numbers look great and are actually a tic better than Kentucky in some categories, but Kentucky finished the season strong winning 6 in a row and 8 of their last 9. Lastly Kentucky beat Florida twice in the past week and won the SEC tournament. In a ideal world we're both 3 seeds. Bring on the MADNESS!
Because all of Florida's bad losses came very early in the year.
ReplyDeleteFlorida lost 2 games in the 2nd half of the year, Kentucky lost 5. Kentucky also lost 3 more SEC games.
Down the stretch and headed into the conference tourneys Florida was 10-2 against RPI top 50 and Kentucky 6-5. Kentucky was 1 game better in the tourney, but that doesn't make up the difference.
I understand your point. It just goes against everything the selection committee chair has said about looking at the whole body of work. It's like there is one set of rules when comparing teams A and B...and a whole other set of rules when comparing teams X and Y
