UK Hoops beats Green Bay 65-62 in 2012 NCAA Tournament

With all the excitement about the men's team charging towards their eighth title, it can be easy to forget about what's going on with the UK hoops team which is also still in their tournament. The UK hoops team (a 2 seed in their region) struggled in their first game against 15 seed McNeese St. winning that game 68-62. With their play in that game, many feared they might get beaten by 7 seed Green Bay in their second game (a team with only one loss for the year and 2nd in he country in forcing turnovers, behind UK).

For the first half, it appeared UK had taken care of whatever caused their first game struggles and they were up 17 at the half. Green Bay went on a run in the second half though and went up 62-61 with less than 2 minutes to go. Thankfully, Green Bay would not score again and Keyla Snowden, our senior transfer from UConn, scored the last 4 points of the game to give us the win 65-62.

UK now advances to play Gonzaga on Sunday.
