Poll Patrol
Home Sweet Home for Kentucky as they beat Mississippi St., and rolled past South Carolina. Kentucky now must put their road woes past them as they travel to play at Arkansas. The weekend brings Florida to Rupp in a must win game for the Cats to keep momentum toward a top 2 seed in the SEC tournament and a better seed come March Madness. This week Kentucky is 22nd in the AP and 22nd in the Coaches Poll. Florida is 13th in both while Vandy is 18th in both polls. Last weeks numbers are in parentheses.
Team RPI Pomeroy Projected Record
(Total and SEC)
Florida 13 (12) 31 (31) 23-7 12-4
Vanderbilt 17 (15) 25 (29) 23-7 11-5
Kentucky 16 (14) 9 (9) 22-8 10-6
Georgia 37 (41) 58 (58) 20-10 9-7
Tennessee 33 (25) 52 (46) 19-13 8-8
South Carolina 119 (119) 126 (116) 14-15 5-11
Alabama 77 (87) 33 (35) 21-9 13-3
Mississippi 70 (61) 73 (74) 20-11 8-8
Miss St 132 (143) 133 (157) 16-14 8-8
Arkansas 115 (110) 98 (104) 18-12 7-9
LSU 222 (218) 219 (225) 11-20 3-13
Auburn 270 (271) 245 (236) 10-20 3-13
The big mover this week is Alabama who jumped 10 spots, getting into the 70s in this weeks RPI. Alabama is on pace for 13 conference wins which I think would get them to the Lock status as long as they don't lay an egg in their opening game in the SEC tournament. They finish with Auburn, Mississippi, Florida, and Georgia. Auburn is a must and winning 2 out of their final 3 should also help move their RPI into the 50s or 60s.
Locks: Florida, Vanderbilt, Kentucky, Tennessee, Georgia
Bubble: Alabama
