All 5 of Kentucky's Players Announce They Are Going Pro

After being slightly spoiled by Lamb and Jones surprising us last year and coming back, many of us held onto a very slim chance that at least one or two of our 5 main underclassmen would return even when we all knew it was highly unlikely.  This year there were no surprises and all 5 (Teaque, Jones, Lamb, Davis, and Kidd-Gilchrist) decided to go pro.  This decision was revealed by Calipari who, after dragging the announcemnt out, stated that three players (Jones, Lamb and Davis) were going pro only to follow that up by saying the other two would as well.  He threw in a pause to "scare other coaches" implying the thought of bringing back a couple players to join the incoming class would be another scary matchup for opposing coaches.

Each player went through and said their thank yous and we found out MKG was close to coming back for awhile but the others had all decided to go pro a few days after the championship game.  Some brought up that had we not won a championship, coming back would have been more attractive but there was not much for them to personally stay for since they did win it all.

We all would have loved if some of the players came back but we can't blame them.  They are the group that finally brought us #8, and as much as it hurts to see them go, they already did a lot for us as fans in their short year here.  When you've accomplished the major goal of all college basketball teams, there really isn't much reason to stay in college when millions of dollars are sitting there waiting for you.  Would any of us come back, saying no to immediately starting to make several million dollars, for just another chance at a championship that would be very hard to pull off again anyways?  As fans, another championship would be huge, but for them it wouldn't be nearly as big of a deal.  They gave us as fans our dream of another banner, now it'a time for them to accomplish their dream of playing in the pros.

What we all need to do now is stand behind then, thank them for what they did, wish them well, and start looking forward to the next class!
